On 16th January 2025, Urban Vision event at Haniffa Business School (HBS) was nothing short of inspiring! With the theme 'Collaborating for Patient-Centred Care,' the evening was packed with thought-provoking talks and engaging discussions about the evolving role of nurses in today’s healthcare landscape.

Keynote Insights:
Our first keynote speaker, Mdm. Devi K Saravana Muthu Former Director of Nursing, Nursing Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia, delivered an enlightening address on “Nursing the Future: Collaborating for Patient-Centred Care.” She highlighted the expanding role of nurses in healthcare, emphasising their crucial contributions to service delivery, patient safety, and crisis responsiveness. Mdm. Devi underscored the necessity of empowering nurses to foster patient-centred and integrated healthcare approaches, which are essential for achieving positive outcomes for communities.
Following her, Mr. Suresh Raj Nadarajan, Manager MAHSA Physio Centre,MAHSA Health presented an engaging talk on “Revolutionising Stroke Rehabilitation with Cyberdyne Technology." His presentation showcased the innovative use of technology in stroke rehabilitation, demonstrating how advancements can significantly enhance patient recovery and outcomes.
The event also featured comprehensive coverage on several key aspects of nursing and healthcare:
• Growing Role of Nurses: The expanding responsibilities of nurses in service delivery, patient safety, and crisis management were highlighted as crucial for a resilient healthcare system.
• High-Quality Care Attributes: Safety, effectiveness, patient-centred approaches, timeliness, efficiency, and equity were identified as essential elements of high-quality care.
• Patient-Centred Care: Emphasis was placed on focusing on individual patient preferences and values in care delivery, ensuring that patients are actively engaged in their care plans.
• Picker's Eight Principles: Respect, coordination, information sharing, comfort, emotional support, family involvement, continuity, and access were discussed as fundamental principles of patient-centred care.
• Person-Centred Care Practices: Effective communication and patient engagement were highlighted as key practices for delivering person-centred care.
• Digital Transformation: The integration of technology in healthcare was explored, with a focus on how digital tools and training can enhance nursing efficiency.
• Continuous Professional Development: The importance of ongoing training and resources for nurses, especially during crises and changing healthcare demands, was underscored.
